Pedophile Charged With Raping Girl in Huntington Group Home

By Mitch Baxter

A Deer Park man has been arrested after allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at a residential mental-health facility where he was previously employed.

Hayden Daley, age 27, was hauled in by Suffolk County detectives, Second Squad, on January 20th and arraigned in Suffolk County 1st District Court in West Islip.  He was charged with two counts each of felony second-degree rape, felony second-degree sex act, and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He was released on $800,000 surety/$80,000 cash bond pending his next appearance on February 6th.

Police say the sexual abuse began last July while Daley was employed at the WellLife Network residence, located on Arista Drive in Dix Hills, and continued after Daley's employment with WellLife ended.

Daley's duties with WellLife, which serves "adolescents diagnosed as seriously emotionally disturbed," with the goal of enhancing "the social, emotional, and behavioral development of each youth," are unknown, as is his employment end-date.

Police declined to do a perp walk, release a mug shot, or allow photos of Daley due to the "sensitive nature" of this case.

Daley's arrest comes two days after another Dix Hills group-home employee, Ovzie Cannon, was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for raping a 15-year-old girl at the Brentwood Residential Center.

Detectives are asking anyone with information or who may be a victim of Daley to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8250
