Huntington's Brooke Lupinacci Lays Out Her Vision

By Maureen Daly

The first question Brooke Lupinacci is often asked on the campaign trail is whether she is related to the former Supervisor. Brooke laughs and answers "No, I’m one of many Lupinacci families that settled in Huntington. In fact, I’m a 4th generation resident - born and raised here.” Brooke grew up in Huntington Bay and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School. She returned after law school and married her husband, Stephen. They are now raising their three sons in the Town. Brooke was inspired at a young age to serve her community. “I’ve always wanted to speak up for the voiceless, the little guy, and make positive change to improve their lives,” said Brooke. That is what led Brooke to become a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney, she explains, where she prosecuted felons for financial crimes that ripped off families, secured criminal convictions related to scams, and prosecuted domestic violence, bias crimes, and graffiti cases. After having her first son, Brooke changed career paths and joined the Town of Huntington as an Assistant Town Attorney. “There was nothing more fulfilling to me than combatting quality of life violations and improving the streets I drive down everyday,” said Brooke. “To many these are small issues, but to me they are everything.” After serving in both Democrat and Republican Administrations, Brooke was appointed to serve as Huntington’s Director of Labor Relations, where she’s trusted to oversee the day-to-day operations between management and the Town’s workforce. “I decided to run for Town Council because I believe I can use my experience and knowledge to improve our quality of life,” said Brooke. “I know the Town Code, how Town government works, and how to cut through red tape.” Brooke says she’s looking to use her position to get things done and make the Town better for families, from upgrading park equipment, to expanding recreational programs, and preserving open space. “The first question on Day One for me won’t be ‘How do we do this’ but rather ‘How quickly can we get it done’?”
