Huntington Murder story

A Huntington man was shot and killed in the doorway of his home early Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk County police - and the nurderer remains at large.

The murder happened when 23 year old Byron Martinez responded to a knock at his door at his residence at 212 5th Ave at around 1:15 AM.


Upon answering his door, he was then shot and killed.

Neighbors called 911 to report the gunfire in the Huntington neighborhood.


Martinez pronounced dead at the scene, according to an assistant physician at the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.


The shooter remains at large. The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad are continuing to investigate the incident as it unravels. Anyone with any information is encouraged to cooperate, and can call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
