Glen Cove Snapper Derby is “Back On”

The Annual Glen Cove Snapper Derby is expected to return on Saturday, August 21st. The Derby is an enjoyable fishing competition for kids in our community. The event was cancelled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Snapper Derby is sponsored by Glen Cove Anglers Club, and will be held at the Pryibil Beach Fishing Pier.

"After being postponed last year due to COVID, it is great to see that the Snapper Derby is back," stated Glen Cove Mayor Tim Tenke. "There is nothing better than seeing all of our young fishing enthusiasts attend such a great tradition in Glen Cove."

The event is aimed for children ages 6 to 16. Basic fishing supplies such as a rod will not be provided, and must be brought individually.

The event will take place regardless of the weather, and a free t-shirt will be given to guests. Trophies will be given to individuals will perform the best in fishing, with the top prize being “Best Angler of the Day.”
