"Dr. Z" Named North Shore Schools Superintendent

The North Shore School District has named Dr. Christopher Zublionis - known as "Doctor Z" in school - as its new Superintendent of Schools.

North Shore has a total of 2,567 students in grades K through 12, and is consistently rated as one of Long Island’s top school districts. The school district has a four year graduation rate of 96 percent.

The district includes Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Glenwood Landing, Roslyn Harbor, and the Brookvilles.

Zublionis earned his Masters and Doctorate in Education from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Since 2019, Zublionis has served as Assistant Superintendent of North Shore Schools. He will officially begin his new position on July 1, 2022.

Prior to becoming assistant superintendent, Zublionis was the principal of Sea Cliff Elementary School. During his seven year tenure, he developed a school-wide approach to student growth through personalized skill mastery and reflective goal setting. He also served as a tenured director of Social Studies at North Shore High School and as a middle school social studies teacher, coach and student government advisor at the Syosset Central School District.

“Leading the North Shore Schools as the next superintendent is a dream come true and an opportunity that I will work hard to earn each and every day,” stated Zublionis. “From my first day on the job at North Shore High School 13 years ago, I realized that he North shore Schools Community was unique in its dedication to personalized learning, innovation and continuous improvement.”

The outgoing interim superintendent, Dr. Thomas Dolan, congratulated the school board on selecting Zublionis, stating, “the community can look forward to experiencing Chris’ informed and thoughtful leadership.”
