Dead Body Found in Glen Cove Creek

The dead body of a 68-year-old man, identified as James Engelhardt of Glen Cove, was found floating last Thursday, in the icy waters of Glen Cove Creek, off Safe Harbor Marina in Glen Cove.

The Glen Cove Police Department investigated this matter.

According to Nassau County Police operatives, a concerned party called 911 at 8:36AM to report a person floating in the water of Safe Harbor Marina, located at 128 Shore Road in Glen Cove, New York.

The Nassau County Marine Bureau, Nassau County Emergency Service Unit, Glen Cove Police Department, and Glen Cove Fire Department all immediately responded to the scene.

Glen Cove Emergency services recovered the floating body from the water. During the initial investigation, the emergency medical personnel pronounced the 68-year-old man dead at 10:48AM.

The identity of the 68-year-old man was not initially released to allow police to notify the family.

According to the Glen Cove police, Engelhardt was living on a boat in Glen Cove creek, and no foul play was involved.
