A ceremony celebrating the topping out of Village Square was given on September 13th in the courtyard of the complex. The event marked a major milestone in the revitalization of Glen Cove’s downtown.

Remarks were given by RXR’s Joe Graziose, Executive Vice President of RXR Realty; Glen Cove Mayor Tim Tenke; and William T. DeCamp III, Senior Vice President of Hunter Roberts Construction Group. Assemblyman Chuck Lavine was also at the ceremony as was former Mayor Reggie Spinello.

The rental, retail complex Village Square in Glen Cove is moving at a rapid pace and will open in March 2020. The rental office opened less than 2 weeks. There are 146 apartments and 30 have rented so far. An ebullient Joe Graziose said “It really shows people want to live in Glen Cove. I am proud today to join with the Mayor and the community to celebrate this major milestone for the city of Glen Cove. Today we celebrate the hardworking construction workers. I am very proud of all the safety measures that have kept workers safe. And happy that Village Square will help in transforming downtown Glen Cove, a place where I was born, grew up, raised my children and still reside today. For this and other reasons, this is a very special day for me and for this great City.”

Glen Cove Mayor Tim Tenke said, “We are extremely proud of what RXR has been able to accomplish in our Downtown and look forward to the opening of Village Square. It brings a contemporary look to what was a dated area in need of a face lift. RXR has been a great partner on this project and is committed to creating a beautiful living environment with dynamic retail space.”

The complex will be the sight of Downtown Sounds, the Christmas Tree placing and lighting, and much more. The project is viewed by many as key to waking up downtown Glen Cove, with its 2.8-acre site on Brewster Street.

Village Square is within walking distance to RXR's Garvies Point development. of condominiums and 28-acres of waterfront esplanades and parks.
