Bayville 100th-Year Anniversary

Everyone qwacked up when the released 2019 duckies did not stay in lanes as designated. All the firemen, committee members, and lifeguards there, went scurrying after the errant ducks, to the delight of the onlookers, cheering for the ducks. This lively excitement took place at West Harbor Beach on Saturday, August 17th at 10:30 AM in the Village of Bayville, in another celebration of its 100th Anniversary.

Lori Bush, along with Ali Charon were the organizers of this event, who everyone will agree, was fun, enjoyable and a wonderful community event that should be continued. When both asked separately if they would consider undertaking this task annually, they both responded that they would consider it. Another community person responded that it would be a great way to raise money to fund any needed improvements to the village beaches. A duck race takes place in Quogue, where Lori Bush had once lived. Lori shared this idea with the Centennial Committee, and made it happen in Bayville.

From the youngest onlooker to the oldest, they were at the duck race because they love where they live, its their community, and they are there to show support.

The next event, concluding the celebrations will be at the Crescent Beach Club on August 19th, and is sold out. The date of August 19th is significant, because that is when the State of New York recognized the incorporation of this beautiful piece of land into the Incorporated Village of Bayville, August 19, 1919.
