12 North Shore High Schools Top US Rankings

The latest U.S. News & World Report ranking of Public High Schools in the United States puts 12 north shore schools in America's top 1000.


19 High Schools on Long Island are ranked in the top 1000 Schools, and 12 of those 19 schools are located on the North Shore.


The top north shore schools, with their overall rank nationally, are: #109 Jericho High School; #195 Great Neck South High School; #215 Manhasset High School; #298 Cold Spring Harbor High School; #328 Syosset High School; #406 North Shore High School; #415 Roslyn High School; #474 Wheatley School; #503 Great Neck North High School; #564 Harborfields High School; #733 Paul D. Schreiber High School (Port Washington); and #949 Elwood - John Glenn High School.

The ranking is based on six categories; College readiness 30%, State Assessment Proficiency 20%, State Assessment Performance 20%, Under-served Student Performance 10%, College Curriculum Breadth 10% and Graduation Rate 10%.

The other seven Long Island Public High Schools that made the list are: #214 Garden City High School; #327 Herricks High School; #392 Half Hollow Hills East High School; #691Plainview-Old Bethpage - JFK High School; #712 JFK High School (Bellmore); #759 Half Hollow Hills West High School; and #973 Bethpage High School.
