Obituaries

Caracciolo, Walter Joseph of Lattingtown, previously of Glen Cove, passed away on February 5, at the age of 92. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Natalie, his daughters Diane Ursprung (pre-deceased by Kip) of Geneva, Switzerland, Jane Armstrong (Jim) of Lattingtown, Liz Krumenacker of Boston, Massachusetts, Annemarie (Romesh Vaitilingam) of Bristol, England, in addition to his seven grandchildren, Meredith (Mark D’Agostino), Blake, Cordelia, Lindsay, Brett, Cara, and Marco.His sister Marjorie Hagan predeceased him. Born in New York City to Joseph and Florence (O’Brien) Caracciolo, he graduated from New York University and had a career as an aeronautical design engineer, working on computer and CAD designs for airplanes, including the Concorde. Memorial Service will be held at St. Josaphat’s Monastery, 1 East Beach Drive, Lattingtown. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice Care Network. The family is also asking able donors to donate to their nearest blood center as the gift of blood helped to sustain him through his valiant battle. HUTCHINS, Carol F. died at home February 1, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born November 24, 1932, in New York City, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leo C. Fennelly. Devoted wife of Waldo Hutchins III, beloved mother of John Devendorf, Andree Welsh, and Marcia Morrell; loving stepmother to John, Fred, Elizabeth and Anne. Cherished sister of Marcia Gowen, dear aunt to Cynthia Crawford and Lee Marine. Survived by her nine grandchildren, grand nephew and three grand nieces. Carol was an active member of the Creek Club and the Colony Club. She owned “Nina Needlepoint” in Locust Valley in the 1970s. She was a member of the North Country Garden Club of Long Island, where she chaired committees including Garden History and Design. Last September, Carol was awarded a Club Medal of Merit from the Garden Club of America for her many years of service. JAGET, Maurice B. “Moe,” peacefully on February 5, age 79, of Oyster Bay, formerly of Bayville, and Locust Valley. Husband of Estrid. Loving father of Jane Pedersen (Kurt), William (Ruta), and James (Kathy). Cherished grandfather of Kurt, Stephen, Jaime, John, and Matthew. Special friend to Patti. He was retired from NY Telephone after 35 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps who served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Sagamore Yacht Club, a life member of Glen Cove VFW # 347, and Locust Valley American Legion Post 962. McCarthy, Eugene T, of Amelia Island FL., formerly of Lattingtown, on Friday, January 28, age 48. Eugene is survived by his beloved mother, Antoinette, and loving siblings: Joseph E.; Kevin (Barbara); Stephen; Antoinette, Joanne; James; and Deidre (Mitch); his cherished nephews and nieces: Benjamin; Jeffrey; Christopher (Jenna);Stephanie; Jennifer; Nicole; Christine; and Kathleen. Eugene is predeceased by his beloved father Joseph V. and his devoted brother Matthew J. Services at St. Michael's R.C. Church, Amelia Island FL. McGillicuddy, Daniel Michael, of Upper Brookville, died on January 29. He was 76. A graduate of St. John's University, he was the founder and owner of DM Advertising of New York and Jericho. After retiring, he helped his wife run Le Canard Rouge, a small antiques and arts store in Locust Valley.
