Sean Schenck

Staff Sgt. Sean Schenck, son of Elizabeth and Robert Schenck, and a 1999 graduate of Locust Valley High School, has been attending the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School for the past year at Fort Bragg. His was the 25th class of the Special Forces Qualification Course.
Their graduation ceremony was held on February 19. Staff Sgt. Schenck is now a member of Special Forces (Green Beret) as a Weapons Sergeant. He was in the top three in his weapons class. He will be assigned to an A-Team with the Third Special Forces Group. Their area of responsibility is Afghanistan and Pakistan.
While doing his training at the Q-Course, he also took the Special Forces SERE Training (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape). He also completed French in the Military Language School.
The Special Forces (Green Beret) make up 1% of the Army. Their motto is De Oppresso Liber (To Free the Oppressed). They are the only military unit in the world that are responsible for the special reconnaissance, direct action, foreign internal defense, unconventional warfare, counter-terrorism missions and speak a foreign language.
