Glen Cove Hospital Free Education Programs, Health Screenings

In recognition of National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 8-12, clinicians and healthcare professionals of Glen Cove Hospital are raising awareness about patient safety to improve the quality of healthcare across the hospital and are encouraging people to take an active role in their health, wellness and safety. Hospital staff members will be on hand during the week to offer free education programs and health screenings.
Patient safety encompasses every aspect of a hospital stay – from the prevention of errors and infections to the environment to the provision of the highest quality care. To promote education and foster communication between healthcare professionals and members of the community, Glen Cove Hospital will offer the following activities in the hospital’s lobby, 101 St. Andrew’s Lane, Glen Cove, Monday, March 8 to Friday, March 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
•Monday, March 8 -- “Are Your Hands Washed Properly?” Check with “Glow- Germ” light.
•Tuesday, March 9 – “Do You Know Your Blood Pressure?” Let us take your blood pressure.
•Wednesday, March 10 – “What Medications Are You Taking?” Bring your medications in a “brown bag” and let our pharmacist identify them and check for possible interactions.
3 p.m. “Be Rx Smart.” Held in the Maxwell Board Room, first floor.
•Thursday, March 11 -- “Be Safe At Home.” Learn about stumble-free walking, climbing steps, proper reaching and bathroom safety. Led by a physical therapist and occupational therapist.
•Friday, March 12 – “Do You Know Your Blood Pressure?” Let us take your blood pressure.
