P/T Locust Valley School Teacher Arrested

A former part-time teacher’s assistant in the Locust Valley School district was arrested on January 19 for allegedly sexually abusing a fifteen year old student. Bryan Tornee, age 26, an assistant coach of both the boys and girls track team at Commack High School, was suspended by that school district because of an incident with the young girl in a Deer Park motel on December 26.
Dr. Anna F. Hunderfund, Superintendent of Schools in Locust Valley, issued the following statement.
“The individual arrested is a part-time teacher’s assistant who has worked with the district for approximately five months. Prior to employment with the district, he received clearance from the State Education Department to work in a school district. He has been relieved of his responsibilities pending the conclusion of these investigations.”
Commack school officials said, “when the district learned of the allegations, the employee was immediately suspended and was banned from all school premises. The alleged incident did not involve a member of the team he was coaching.”
Hunderfund added that “Mr. Tornee has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.”
