A Taste of Locust Valley

• Sally Bandow

The Locust Valley Rotary Foundation is alive and well and it showed on Thursday evening, January 28, when hundreds of people turned out for the annual Taste of Locust Valley which was held at the Brookville Country Club. President David D'Alleva beamed as more than thirty-five restaurants and wineries supplied their very best. The chairpersons of the event were Susan Ackerman, Katherine Gull and Maria Smilovic. The evening was full of good wines, good company and great cheer.
Participants included Allison's Amalfi Ristorante; Atria Senior Living; Barney's Restaurant; Basil Leaf Café; Bennett’s Sushi; The Brass Rail; Chocolicious Chocolatier; Epiphany; Fiddleheads; Jeff Lawton Events; King Kullen Grocery Co.; La Bonne Boulangerie; Messina Market; La Bussola Ristorante; Loafers Bakery; The Locust Valley Inn; Marra's Restaurant; Mill Creek Tavern; Old Fashioned Bakery; Page One Restaurant Cabaret; Sunrise Senior Living; Sweet Tomato; Wall's Wharf; Marquis Wines and Spirits; SURU Wines; Southern Wines; Omni Wines; Michael Skurnick Wines; Martha Clara Vineyards; Banfi Wines; Jamesport Winery and Southern Wines and Spirits.
Donations came from gracious shop keepers and the winner of the 50/50 raffle was Jim Fuccio, president and past president of the Oyster Bay Rotary Club, who went home with about $3,500.
The evening benefited the following organizations: Locust Valley Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts; Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club; Locust Valley Library; St. Patrick’s Outreach of Glen Cove; Mill Neck Manor for the Deaf; Rotacare; Rotary International Foundation; Gift of Life Program; The Salvation Army; domestic and international humanitarian projects and college scholarships for local students.
