CRAIG, Helene of Glen Cove, on December 15, age 90. Born is Mogador, Morocco on July 15, 1920 she is descended from several distinct worlds: Her Sephardic roots date back to the Spanish Inquisition of 1492, when many Jews fled to North Africa, Another branch of her family goes back to the ancient Phoenicians, a civilization of traders who plied the waters of the Mediterranean, She was raised and taught to speak French, Hebrew as she attended French Boarding School at the Lycee de Jeunes Filles in Casablanca. She grew up in the Roaring Twenties, which was her favorite era. Her passion was dance, her family moved to Brooklyn in 1939 and soon she met and married the love of her life, Larry, in 1942 during World War II. Their family moved to Glen Cove in 1954 where they raised their son Geoffrey and daughter Lisa. She never gave up her passion for dancing and would still take classes in NYC at the New Dance Group. She was a fabulous cook. Cooking both French cuisine and Moroccan specialties. Known to her friends as "Muzzie", she always kept her strength, refinement and generosity. Helen is the beloved wife of the late Laurence B. Loving mother of Geoffrey and Lisa. Dear sister of Victor, Leonard, Gloria, Stanley and the late Jacques. Proud grandmother of Amanda and Antonia.
