Locust Valley Restaurant Week includes
Locust Valley High School Student Art Walk

•The Locust Valley Chamber of Commerce is pleased to bring back Restaurant Week. It will take place in Locust Valley during the week of April 19-25 for lunch and dinner. This year, Restaurant Week will be in conjunction with an Art Exhibit and Walk featuring the talent of student artists from Locust Valley High School.
The restaurants will be offering a “special” lunch price at $15 and a “special” dinner price at $25 per person, plus tax and tip. Each restaurant will create a special menu that works in that range, while offering some added value. The participating restaurants and sponsors of this event include: Basil Leaf Café, Brown’s Tavern, Buckram Stables, Barney’s, Bennett’s Sushi Lounge, The Brass Rail and the Locust Valley Inn.
In conjunction with Restaurant Week, the LVCC is working with the Art Department at Locust Valley High School to organize a week of celebration of student art. “The idea is to show our support to the local high school and let everyone enjoy this generation of art,” commented Kaye Weninger, chairperson of the event. “We invite everyone to come out and dine at one of our fine restaurants. Stroll the streets and enjoy the art walk and the beauty of spring in Locust Valley. The shops and businesses will open their doors to welcome you!”
Last month, the Locust Valley Middle School-High School mini-theater and the surrounding hallways were transformed into a gallery that rivaled any professional artist’s show. This celebration of creativity featured original works of art, technology and TV media by Locust Valley students in grades six through 12. From painting, sculptures, technical drawings, commercials, movies, paintings, and even one student’s very own prom dress, the displays were impressive.
Tom Hogan, Art and Technology Department chairperson, organized the event with the help of the art, technology, TV media and culinary art teachers. “Our student community consistently displays talents that provoke thoughtful discussion and outright amazement. The ability to marry all our creative outlets in one show, and the fact that it has been received with such acclaim, underscores the value our school and community places on the whole child and celebrates the many diverse talents that make our children and this institution so unique.”
The LVCC is excited to bring this art show to you to enjoy in the business district during restaurant week. Maps of all participating businesses will be available throughout the village.
