LVHS Alumna Gets Obama Nomination

Locust Valley High School alumna Eileen Chamberlain Donahoe has been nominated by President Barack Obama to be the U.N. Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Ms. Chamberlain Donahoe is the daughter of the late John Chamberlain, a local attorney and former Locust Valley school board member and Eileen B. Chamberlain of Locust Valley.
While at Locust Valley High School, Ms. Chamberlain Donahoe was an honor student, a cheerleader, was on the track and acted in school musicals. She was also a homecoming princess. After graduation, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, a master’s in theology from Harvard and both a law degree and master’s in East Asian Studies from Stanford University. She also has a Ph.D. in Ethics from the University of California’s Graduate Theological Union.
Donahoe, age 50, an affiliated scholar at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), has also worked with various human rights organizations including The Lawyer’s Committee for Human Rights and Amnesty International’s Ginneta Sagan Fund, where she did strategy work related to human rights concerns of women and children.
She is a resident of Portola Valley, CA, and chaired the National Women for Obama Finance Committee.
