Esslinger, Craig A., on November 10, of Mill Neck. Husband of Lydia for forty beloved years. Son of Jean and the late Arthur Esslinger of Southold. Brother of Gay Lanctot and Scott. Son-in-law of Mary Szczech. Retired from IBM after 40 years as branch manager and account executive. Active in scouting, as a teen, he was chosen to be the official escort for the first astronauts during their ticker tape parade in New York City. A Coast Guard veteran, Craig enjoyed all things nautical, sailing his trawler out of Greenport. Much free time was spent assisting his wife and her Syosset HS students in the speech and debate community of the Long Island Forensic Association. His death from pulmonary fibrosis at 64 was a probable result of being on site during the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11,2001. Family will receive friends at the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home Inc., 293 South Street, Oyster Bay. Interment St. Agnes Cemetery Greenport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue charity of your choice. YAVOSKI, Edward T., a lifelong resident of the Gold Coast, he passed away on Tuesday November 10, age 86. Born in Oyster Bay, Ed lived in Locust Valley in the house he built in 1953 with his late wife Clara (nee Chebuske), his daughter Linda Leddy (Allentown PA), and son Tom Yavoski (Plano TX). Ed was a most devoted and loyal husband and a happy and caring father. In addition to his children, Ed is survived by his grandchildren Greg Leddy, Jessica Leddy Carter, and Zach Yavoski. Son-in-law Joe Leddy and daughter-in-law Mitzi Yavoski. Also survived by his sister Brenda Woicyzk (Walter) and Stella Greguski.
Ed knew, and was known by a great many people across the Long Island. From the age of sixteen, he was a drummer in a three-piece polka band, playing most every weekend at weddings and dances. As a carpenter (Local 7), Ed built homes and offices throughout the area. And in his later years, he enjoyed just sitting in the front yard tending his beautiful flowers and talking to people who passed by.
His smile will be missed by his family, friends, and neighbors. Visiting held at Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Mass at St. Hyacinth RC Church, Glen Head. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.

ZANNELLA, Silvia, peacefully at home on November 8, age 92, of Bayville. Beloved wife of the late Costanzo. Loving mother of Daniel (Ann), Diana Pierro (Richard), and the late Rosemarie Rufo (Vittorio). Cherished grandmother of Richard Rufo (Giovanna), Victor Rufo (Sandra), Christine Michell (Robert), Stefanie, Denise Flowers (George), Lisa Lam (Tung), Richard Pierro (Donna), and Christopher Pierro.
